I’m Steve Hammond, born and raised in Colorado, where I earned my degree in Advertising and Design from the Colorado Institute of Art. Today, I’m proud to serve as Partner and Creative Director at H2R (Harshman, Hammond, and Rice), living and working in the beautiful Pacific Northwest.
As a Signature Scratchboard Artist (SSA) with the International Society of Scratchboard Artists, I revel in the power of black-and-white artistry. With each stroke, I breathe life into intricate details, capturing the essence of people and animals in ways that draw viewers in and hold their gaze.
My journey as an artist has been fueled by passion, dedication, and an unrelenting pursuit of perfection. Armed with a scratchboard as my canvas and a sharp tool as my instrument, I create work that transcends boundaries and invites reflection. My art isn’t for the faint of heart—it explores complex human emotions and the untamed beauty of wildlife, striving to evoke strong reactions and leave a lasting impression.
Being recognized as an award-winning artist has been deeply humbling, affirming my commitment to excellence and innovation in this captivating medium. My work is represented by Barlow Gallery in Tacoma, Washington, and I’m honored to serve on the boards of both the International Society of Scratchboard Artists and the Peninsula Art League.
